Advanced Technology Services Takes Home Three Awards From International Association of Outsourcing Professionals

Second year company recognized for service offerings in the UK and Mexico, leadership in the automotive industry and discrete manufacturing services

PEORIA, IL (August 5, 2010) — In its annual ranking of the top global outsourcing companies, the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), named Peoria, IL-based Advanced Technology Services (ATS) among the top providers in three key categories for the second year in a row.

ATS, an industry leader in managed production equipment maintenance, ranked among the top 25 rising stars and was named one of the five best companies in the automotive category and among the top 20 leaders in discrete manufacturing services.

“Our commitment to make factories run better directly reflects our core values as well as our dedication to and partnerships with our customers” said ATS President Jeffrey Owens.

Among the criteria that put ATS ahead of its contenders was its customer-focused, continuous improvement culture that utilizes employee involvement and the technical tools of quality. These practices help ATS provide measurable results to its customers by reducing cost to produce products, improving manufacturing focus and conquering the internal resource limitations.

“In today's changing global economy, asset utilization management, performance and reliability take on an increasingly important role,” said Owens. “In both expanding and contracting economies, ATS value proposition delivers meaningful advantages to our customers. We give manufacturers the flexibility they need to operate at lower levels or ramp up rapidly as production demand changes.”

2010 marked the fifth annual ranking of the world’s best outsourcing service providers by the IAOP. Companies who submitted applications were ranked according to 18 criteria including revenue growth, customer references, management capabilities, demonstrated competencies, number of employees and the skills and training of their workforce. The applications were reviewed and scored by a panel of independent judges, all industry experts that use outsourcing services.

“The Global Outsourcing 100 is a very prestigious award,” said Owens. “We are proud to be recognized on an international level for the second connective year by the IAOP for our services in the automotive and manufacturing industries.”

ATS and UbiStor Gives Builder a Solid Foundation to Grow

Problem
A rapidly growing single family home-builder made the decision to relocate their data center from the Atlanta, Georgia headquarters to Orlando, Florida. It was very important to the company that no data was lost. Not only did their network contain predetermined floor plans, schedules and logistic information but also home warranties and exclusions, policies and current and historical customer data. The builder also offered its customers the opportunity to obtain home mortgages through their financial services division. This added social security numbers, credit scores, account numbers and personal information to the network.

UbiStor, an online data backup and disaster recovery management company, proposed a solution to help prevent possible data loss. At that time, the builder used a manual system. All data was saved onto tapes and stored in one facility. This meant, if a disaster occurred at that facility, all the data would have been lost and unrecoverable. UbiStor stepped in and recommended moving to an automated system, the U-VaultSM solution. The builder rejected the proposal and insisted on using their current manual system.

As they were preparing to move, everything began to crash – the tape system was not functioning properly which caused a panic among the company. Loosing electronic data within their business would be disastrous causing many different outcomes. Overall, the builder would be in serious trouble.

Solution
Foreseeing the devastating effects that soon could become a reality, the builder decided to engage in UbiStor’s technology and use the U-VaultSM solution. UbiStor immediately partnered with Advanced Technology Services (ATS) to help make this move possible. Using teamwork, quickly the system’s hardware and software was installed while training, servicing and maintenance actions were also being implemented.

Results
Once up and running, all crucial information was restored in the matter of minutes. Continued testing of the U-VaultSM solution was also performed providing performance. The builder now has a point-and-click internet based backup process that restores all data offsite at multi-locations. Benefits also included an increase in the amount of data that is protected, reduction in recovery time, increased system availability and cost savings with guaranteed maximum protection. Regardless of what happens to one of the business’ locations, the data is backed up and restored at another facility.

“ATS’s geographic reach, multi-vendor support experience and infrastructure deliver quality Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) as well as exceptional Onsite and Remote Disaster Recovery Solutions (DRS) to UbiStor clients nationwide. With the industry’s transition from tape to disk based backup solutions, ATS will be able to provide new and existing clients with more reliable, less costly data backup and recovery options.”
